When asked what is it that really makes Leek buzz, Events Chair, Cllr Matt Swindlehurst said; “For starters, we have some great live music events – more or less all year round.”
“Thanks are due mainly to the organisers of Leek’s annual ‘Blues and Americana’ festival. Their efforts are much appreciated,” says Matt.
Although not directly responsible for these events, Leek Town Council can help with Community grants. Group organisers are encouraged to put forward their proposals for consideration.
Matt and other fellow councillors can also help with publicity and try to support as many of these festivals events as possible.
This year’s Arts Festival kicked off in February with a’Winter Warmer’ featuring singers and bands performing in a variety of venues within the town.
The Old Mill Smokehouse and Restaurant, participated by hosting Nashville based Sam Lewis as part of his European Tour. Sam was ably supported by local musicians, Helen Walford and Steve Giddings, Sam’s largely self penned set was warmly received by the audience.
