Commenting on the project Mayor, Cllr Sue Coleman said: “As a newly elected Council, we have committed to an ambitious programme to encourage better and more proactive community engagement.
“If Leek can rightfully claim to be the Queen of the Moorlands, then the crown jewels are the businesspeople who run the pubs, shops and cafes, and of course, our historic marketplace. Of equal importance are all the individuals who work tirelessly, setting up events. Because these are what makes Leek not only a great place to live, but also a premier tourist destination.
“As well as the regular Totally Locally Markets, the town benefits from the annual Leek Show Day and a variety of independent music festivals and other attractions such as Scooterfest.
Cllr Coleman continues: “We are grateful to the Foxlowe Arts Centre and all of the other community groups that support these events. As representatives for the Town Council, we are committed to helping them all achieve their full potential for the benefit of everybody.”
“The new website is intended to help the Council to reach out to all residents and help group organisers to share ideas and resources.
